Seeks octogenarian’s help to fight injustice

Ex-software engineer reportedly engaged to Kanthi Kiran who later refuses to marry her

‘Fiancé’, relatives call her to Kurnool on the pretext of resolving dispute and beat her up

KURNOOL: Sumana, a former software engineer, sought the help of octogenarian and district secretary of CPI (M) New Democracy P. Gokari to fight the injustice allegedly meted to her by colleague.

Legal battle

Sumana, who hails from Prakasam district, was reportedly engaged to Kanthi Kiran, another software engineer hailing from Kurnool after they got introduced to each other through a marriage bureau at Bangalore.

After some time, the youth refused to marry the girl which enraged her to take up a legal battle. She lodged a complaint with Bangalore police which led to loss of jobs for both.

As she did not relent, relatives and ‘fiancé’ called her to Kurnool on the pretext of resolving the dispute this month and beat her up badly.

The next day she lodged a complaint with the Three Town police.

She accused the police of inaction and met the Superintendent of Police who ordered an inquiry.

Meanwhile, Sumana approached many social activists in the city for help but Mr. Gokari came forward to help her after listening to her story.

Mr. Gokari, who is ailing for some time, requested the press to highlight the plight of Ms. Sumana and planned to take her to State capital for representing the case to higher-ups.
