CPI (M) functionaries staged a dharna in an electrical sub-station at the Built-Up Junction in Kadapa on Friday, resenting the steep power cuts in Kadapa town.

Power cuts up to six to seven hours a day in Kadapa town, even before the onset of summer was absurd, CPI (M) leader M. Papi Reddy said. The Congress government has failed to ensure proper power supply but was increasing power charges frequently, he alleged. He charged the government with driving A.P. Genco into losses by starving it of funds. He demanded roll back of the proposed power charge hike and reduction of power cuts in Kadapa.

CPI (M) leaders Chandra Reddy, Dastagiri Reddy, Siva Reddy, Venkatesh and Subbaiah participated.
