Leaders of CPI (M) demanded that the government order an enquiry with Vigilance and Enforcement Department over the irregularities in Indiramma Housing Scheme in the district.

Speaking to the newsmen here on Wednesday, CPI (M) city unit secretary M.Mohan Rao said the government has allotted about 34,000 houses under Indiramma Housing Scheme, but not even one house was completed, he alleged.

The beneficiaries paid some thousands of rupees as their contribution, but the units were not handed over to them. The government was resorting to lathicharges and arrests, if any body questioned the delay, he said.

Indefinite fast

CITU Nellore secretary J.Ajay Kumar said the CPI (M) and its affiliated parties observed relay and indefinite fasts twice demanding to handover the houses, issue pensions and ration cards, but the officials were trying to suppress the agitation with police force. Condemning the police action on the agitating leaders, Mr.Ajay Kumar said the party will intensify the agitation, if the officials fail to consider their demands and do justice to the poor.
