VISAKHAPATNAM: CPI State secretary K. Narayana complained to the Minister for Law and Courts M. Venkata Ramana that wife of the advocate who is defending Tribal Welfare Minster P. Balaraju in two election-related cases has been appointed as Assistant Public Prosecutor of Magistrate Court at Narsipatnam even as the Minster filed an application in the High Court seeking the transfer of cases from Chintapalli Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.

Mr. Balaraju is facing two cases, one for detaining the Returning Officer of Paderu Assembly segment and another along with his brothers and others, for detaining a voter at his house on the polling day during the last general elections.

The cases were pending in the Chintapalli court and since Mr. Balaraju failed to appear in the court citing security as the reason.

Non-bailable warrants have been issued against Mr. Balaraju in both cases.

Meanwhile Mr. Balaraju filed a petition in the High Court seeking transfer of cases from Chintapalli to Narsipatnam in view of security problem.

A case under SC and ST Atrocities Prevention Act was filed against the APP of Chintapalli Mylapalli Adinarayana.
