`Party open to talks on second SRC '

  • `No blanket policy on issue of smaller States'
  • `CPI not silent over Singur issue'

    HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has not rejected the idea of a separate Telangana, but the party is insisting on a consensus, says its floor leader in the Lok Sabha Gurudas Dasgupta.

    Fielding questions at a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Dasgupta said that the party was open to a discussion on the idea of second States Reorganisation Commission (SRC). "Let the Prime Minister make a suggestion on this. We don't believe in whispers. There are positive and

    negative aspects to the SRC. But on how many occasions, the country will have SRCs? It may create a disturbance. However, the regional aspirations of people should be looked into, ," he observed.

    To questions on Telangana, Mr. Dasgupta said that the CPI wanted all aspects to be looked into.
