The CPI city council criticised the government for putting the condition that LPG cylinders would be supplied on subsidy only to those having Aadhaar cards and to make a deposit of Rs. 1,030 for supplying the subsidised cylinder.

The party held a demonstration at Jagadamba Centre on Thursday with is members carrying LPG refills on their heads.

City secretary M. Pydiraju said the new conditions, brought in at the behest of oil companies, would cause a lot of inconvenience to consumers and it was a ploy to deny the subsidy.

Many people were not having Aadhaar cards and depositing Rs. 1,030 would not be possible for the poor families, he said and demanded that the government withdraw the conditions. Several CPI leaders also participated.
