Activists of the Communist Party of India (CPI) forced their way into the Sub-Collector’s office and demanded that compensation be given to the people who were victims of the heavy rain and floods caused by the Neelam cyclone.

The activists and cyclone victims, led by CPI city secretary Donepudi Sankar, laid siege to the Sub-Collector’s office. Demanding that the Sub-Collector accept the representation from them, the agitators remained at the gate for a long period. The agitators, however, gate-crashed when they were told that the Sub-Collector was on leave.

They gave the representation to Administrative Officer Jayasree. The officer assured them that the representation would be forwarded to the government and action would be taken immediately.
