KADAPA: Samachara Hakku Chatta Rakshana Vedika (Sahachara Vedika) convenor M. Venkataswamy Reddy on Wednesday hailed the Delhi High Court verdict that the office of Chief Justice of India comes under the ambit of the Right to Information Act and it was bound to provide information about the declaration of asset details by the Supreme Court Judges.

It was a historic ruling laying emphasis on transparency in the judicial system and aimed at strengthening the faith of the common man in the judiciary and its independence, Mr. Reddy asserted in a statement. “Judges were public authorities and hence probity of judicial life is in the larger public interest.”

The High Court verdict showed that everybody in the country including the Chief Justice of India was bound by the law of the land, Mr. Venkataswamy Reddy said. The Central and State Governments should implement the verdict and enhance the stature of the judiciary, he said.
