A local court here on Thursday created a record by delivering a verdict in Telugu, perhaps for the first time, in an illicit-distilled liquor case.

The first Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate issued the orders acquitting 30-year-old B. Yadaiah of Jumerat Bazaar as the prosecution failed to prove him guilty. The prosecution had also failed to examine the independent witnesses in the case. Officials of the Excise and Prohibition department arrested Yadaiah eight months ago after raiding his hideout at Jumerat Bazaar. Three hundred and six sachets were recovered from him.
