Justice Ramesh Ranganatham of the High court on Tuesday expressed displeasure at the way the complaint against Sub-Inspector of Kothapatnam in Prakasam district was handled by the police administration.
The judge recorded the presence of Superintendent of Police Raghuram Reddy in the court in person.
A writ petition was filed complaining that the police acted inhumanly against the petitioner Gowtham Gandhi and his wife in an accident case. They had complained that the SI took them to the police station and beat up Gowtham.
When the High Court called for a report from the SP, it was claimed that the person was in a drunken condition. The SP appeared in person and informed that the SI and two constables, involved in the case, were suspended.
The court adjourned the matter by two weeks so that final comprehensive report from DGP who ordered a CID probe is submitted.
