HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High court comprising Chief Justice A.R. Dave and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan on Thursday asked the Income Tax Department and Principal Secretary in charge of Registration and Stamps to respond within three weeks regarding the allegations that stamp duty is being evaded in large scale by many banks in the State. The Bench was dealing with a case file by Rakesh Sanghi, practicing advocate. He alleged that while granting loans the banks are showing the value of property lower than the real value. The stamp duty payable is being evaded and there is large scale loss to the treasury.
