An aged couple from the district who were on a Char Dham yatra, returned home safely and had a happy reunion with their family members here on Sunday.
K. Ramachander (64) and his wife Sushila (58) are residents of MIG quarters in BHEL township in Medak district. Along with 30 others they went to a tour on June 4.
When they were at Badrinath it began to rain heavily which continued for three days. They stayed put in the hotel oblivious to the devastation that took place outside. Communication facilities were totally cut off. But they were lucky enough to have sufficient stock of groceries which they took with them, including fuel. However Sushila who is a pateinet had to suffer due to lack of medicines. “When the army started operations, my grandfather Mr. Ramachander approached the army officials and requested them to shift him and grand-mother Sushila as she is an asthma patient and they were shifted to Delhi from where they returned to Hyderabad by catching another flight,” said Raghu grandson of Mr. Ramachander. We spent the past three days on tenterhooks not knowing the fate of our grandparents, said Raghu.
