SRIKAKULAM: The District Tourism Promotion Committee, which met here on Wednesday, decided to revive the four beach resort cottages at Baruva and construct two more to attract tourists.

Four cottages were constructed at Baruva beach in 1997 but they had gone defunct. On a representation, the Tourist Department had agreed to release Rs.75 lakhs for taking up repairs to the four cottages with Rs.18.75 lakhs and construct two more with modern facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 56 lakhs.

The Tekkali Revenue Divisional Officer would monitor the works for which the engineering wing of the Panchayat Raj Department had prepared the estimates.

District Collector V.N. Vishnu presided over the meeting. The committee had also formulated an action plan for development of tourist spots in the district.
