Three members of a gang of robbers, on the run for 17 months, were nabbed by police on Wednesday.
The gang had in 2011 committed two robberies at Secunderabad and Begum Bazaar.
Prime accused K. Ramesh Kumar, 23, who was earlier involved in several other cases, has four non-bailable warrants against his name, the Commissioner’s Task Force Additional DCP P. Rameshaiah said.
Ramesh, Abid and Amar beat up a person carrying Rs. 6.10 lakh in cash at Moksh hotel near Budha Bhavan in September 2011.
They then snatched his bag, sped away and shared the booty with two other members of the gang.
A few weeks later, Ramesh, Abid and Sandeep Singh robbed another person of Rs. 2.7 lakh at Siddiamber Bazar in similar fashion.
While the investigators were clueless about the two robberies, Abid eventually surrendered in a court in connection with an attempt-to-murder case and was sent to jail.
Acting on a tip-off, the TF (West) team, led by Inspector S. Rama Chandra Reddy, caught Kumar, Sandeep Singh and Fasi Ahmed Amer.
No money was recovered from the gang. Another member of the gang, Naresh is still at large.
A 28-year-old housewife, who was undergoing treatment for burns, died on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as M. Padma, a resident of Mochi Colony, Kalapather, suffered burns at her residence on March 28 and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital.
