The ruling Congress party, which had won eight out of 10 assembly seats in 2009 general elections, maintained its its hold in the district if the first phase election results to cooperative societies are any indication.
Out of the 45 single windows chairman posts for which elections were held on Friday, the Congress won 17 chairman posts followed by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) 14, Telugu Desam six, YSR Congress one and independents two. Chairman election for five single windows was postponed as there was no quorum.
In Siddipet, being represented by the TRS legislator T. Harish Rao, the party representatives won all the six chairman posts. In Dubbak Assembly constituency limits the TRS won seven posts leaving Congress with only one post.
The ruling party won all the seats in Gajwel held by Congress legislator T. Narsa Reddy, whereas in Narsapur represented by Women and Child Welfare Minister V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, the ruling party won seven posts followed by one seat to TRS. The single society that went for elections at Jogipet represented by Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha went in favour of the Congress.
However at Medak, the only Assembly seat being held by the TDP, the results were a mixed bag.
The TDP won six seats followed by TRS 2, Congress 1, YSRC 1 and independents two.
