The office of the Director General of Police and the TRS made contradictory claims about lodging a complaint against the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen regarding its role in the recent disturbances in the old city.

The DGP’s office, in statement, said representatives of the TRS called on the DGP regarding the disturbances in the old city on Friday and complained against the MIM leaders for their provoking speeches. The TRS and its minority cell, however, refuted the statement claiming it had not made any complaint against the MIM regarding any controversy.

In a separate statement, the TRS said it was a secular party and asserted that no representation was given to the DGP. “The party has not given any representation against the MIM to the police,” former MP B.Vinod Kumar said.
