Karimnagar Consumers’ Council and Lok Satta Udyama Samstha have urged the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Karimnagar chapter and district Medical Health Department officials to take stern action against a private hospital for fleecing a patient by charging Rs.One lakh for performing hydrocele operation.
In a press note here on Sunday, Consumer Council leaders N. Srinivas, Prakash Holla, K.C. Reddy, T. Ganga Rao and others alleged that a private hospital near government headquarters hospital had collected a whopping Rs.One lakh from a rural patient for performing hydrocele surgery. Hydrocele operation is performed free of cost in private medical colleges, they said.
Terming the incident as unethical, they alleged that the private hospitals had colluded with the RMPs and ambulance operators and fleece the gullible patients by charging a huge amount for ordinary treatment.
