367 qualify on first day

Kakinada: The district police organised 5-km run here on Monday for selection of police constables. Out of 585 candidates who were to take part in the test, 546 appeared. Of them, 367 candidates qualified.

Superintendent of Police Y. Nagi Reddy stated that the test would be conducted till May 8 and, for women, the date of test (for 2 1/2 km) is May 1. Candidates have to report at the venue of the physical tests half-an-hour in advance along with their hall-tickets and other relevant documents.

Of the 17,000 applications allotted for the district, 14,689 applications were sold and 7,090 candidates (6,712 male and 378 female) submitted applications till Saturday last.

The SP suggested to those aspiring for police constables jobs to not believe middlemen as the selection process will be entirely based on merit. VIZIANAGARAM: Amid elaborate bandobust arrangements and with a mobile medical van, the District Police Office began the police constables’ recruitment test. All along the way the vehicular traffic was stopped for 25 minutes, the time allotted to reach the finishing point. On the first day, 400 candidates out of 536 participated in the 5-km run from Ramavaram to DPO were declared qualified.

Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh Mann issued them call letters for physical measurement test that will be conducted from June 6.

Talking to this correspondent at the police grounds, Mr. Mann said that A. Pratap, who was qualified in the run, was admitted to district headquarters hospital following exhaustion.
