Medak district Congress leaders step up efforts

I will not hesitate to resign if the high command decides otherwise, says MLA Narsa Reddy

All the seven MLAs, lone MP in the district owe their victory to YSR

SANGAREDDY: Loyalists and supporters of late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy stepped up their efforts to project the name of his son and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy as the next Chief Minister.

A procession was held on Saturday in support of Jagan by the town Congress leaders from the DCC office. On the other hand, Gajwel MLA T. Narsa Reddy reportedly sent a fax to AICC office with the same demand.

He told the media that he would not hesitate to resign from the party if Jagan was not appointed YSR’s successor.

In a related development four persons reportedly climbed a tower at Nanganoor mandal headquarters demanding that Y.S. Jagan be made the next Chief Minister.

Suresh Shetkar, who earlier represented Narayanakhed Assembly constituency, had contested and won from the newly-formed Zaheerabad Lok Sabha from where he was asked to contest by Dr. Reddy.

The latter also set at rest the reported differences between Suresh Shetkar and P. Kishta Reddy, currently MLA from Narayanakhed.

T. Jayaprakash Reddy, who earlier sailed with the TRS, was awarded the Congress ticket from the same constituency and won the seat, courtesy Rajasekhara Reddy.

All the other seven MLAs, including three Ministers -- J. Geeta Reddy, C. Damodar Rajanarasimha and V. Sunita Lakshma Reddy – owe their victory to Dr. Redy.

However, at lest one MLA is reportedly not in favour of promoting the name of Jaganmohan Reddy but was not ready to come out openly.
