TDP legislator and district president Ch Vijayaramana Rao and senior leader E. Peddi Reddy alleged that the Congress was focussing on the Telangana statehood issue unable to face the strong TDP in the elections.

Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, Mr. Peddi Reddy said that “unable to face the TDP in the elections, then Congress floor leader in Assembly YS Rajashekhar Reddy had motivated the 41 Telangana Congress legislators to form into a legislators forum and raise the statehood issue and submit a memorandum to party president Sonia Gandhi. Similarly, it had also passed a resolution in CWC for constitution of second States reorganization committee on Telangana in 2001 and also forged an alliance with TRS in 2004 elections”.

Alleging that the Congress had been using the Telangana issue for its political gains since last 14 years, he said that the Congress party high command was purposefully creating rift between the two regions in the name of bifurcation of State.
