BJP State spokesperson K. Anjaneya Reddy and district president P. Surender Reddy charged the ruling Congress party and the opposition Telugu Desam with adopting double standards on the issue of the demand for separate statehood.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the BJP leaders asserted that their party had maintained a clear stand in favour of separate statehood as this would help in better and more effective administration of the smaller States. They advised the leaders of other parties not to speak in different voices in different regions.

Mr. Anjaneya Reddy demanded that Minister S. Sailajanath put in his resignation papers immediately in the aftermath of the sting operation conducted by Cobrapost on the money laundering activities of various public and private sector banks. He said that the BJP’s popularity was seeing tremendous increase in Telangana and there was also good response to party activities in the coastal region. He expressed confidence that the BJP and its allies would regain power at the Centre.

The BJP leaders described the mandate in Karnataka as a lesson for their party which would be used to correct mistakes.
