To discuss seat-sharing arrangement with CPI(M) leaders
GUNTUR: The Congress would win all the seats in the coming panchayat elections, said party election observer for the district Kanumuri Bapiraju.
At a press conference here on Sunday, he said most mandals in the district were reviewed and the party's strengths and weaknesses assessed. The party leaders were holding a meeting with Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday evening to discuss the seat sharing agreement.
The Left parties had proposed seats as per their strengths and assessment. "We will conduct meetings with the leaders and the local MLAs before taking a final decision," Mr. Bapiraju said. He and Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary L. Venugopala Rao were appointed by the party high command as election observers for the district.
Meanwhile, the district-level mini-plenary, which was scheduled to be held at Guntur on Monday has been cancelled. "Pradesh Congress Committee president K. Kesava Rao was held up in Hyderabad for talks with the Left parties on the seat sharing agreements," said District Congress Committee president Muppalaneni Seshagiri Rao.
