HYDERABAD: Congress party has ridiculed the claim made by the Telugu Desam Party that it will pay minimum support price of Rs. 1,000 per quintal of paddy if the party returns to power.
Four Congress MLCs, at a press conference here on Thursday, made light of the TDP’s promise stating that at the height of its influence during the National Democratic alliance rule, it had failed miserably to ensure better MSP for the farm produce.
“What prevented the then TDP government from getting better MSP for farmers in Andhra Pradesh,” G. V. Ramana Reddy, G. Rudraraju and others wondered.
Mr. Ramana Reddy and Mr. Rudraraju said the TDP leaders were trying to woo the farmers with false promises.
The APCC spokesperson N. Tulasi Reddy and M. Kodanda Reddy, at another press conference, wondered what Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had done when he was the Chief Minister about paddy getting good support price.
