TRS legislator K. Tarakarama Rao has ridiculed the Congress leaders for not fielding its candidate for the elections to Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council elections from the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency. Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, he wondered whether Congress was falling short of candidates to field from four districts of the constituency.
Alleging that the ruling party had misused official machinery and ensured the victory of their party supporters by using police force, he said that the Congress victory in the cooperative elections was not real victory.
He dared the government to field candidates for council elections in Telangana region if it was so confident of victory following cooperative polls. It would also be a referendum on statehood, he added. He alleged that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy was misleading the party high command on the victory of party in the cooperative elections to dilute the Telangana statehood issue. MLC N Laxman Rao, town president S Ravinder Singh were present.
