KURNOOL: Leaders of Congress, CPI and CPI (M) started on Sunday the negotiations for seat sharing in the ensuing local body elections in Kurnool district.
Mayor and DCC president S. Raghurami Reddy and party observer G. Rudraraju represented the Congress while CPI (M) team was led by district secretary T. Shadrak and CPI by city secretary K. Jagannatham.
The CPI(M) staked a claim for ten ZPTC seats, four mandal presidents and 160 MPTC while the CPI asked for six ZPTC, four mandal presidents and 98 MPTCs. After receiving the list of seats, the Congress leadership sought time to consult its cadre and proposed to meet again in the evening. Meanwhile, the CPI (M) representatives asked the Congress to speed up the process.
