City Congress leaders threatened to go public with the chequered past of Telugu Desam general secretary Varla Ramaiah if he did not take back the statements he made against Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, city Congress working president Meesala Rajeswara Rao said that Mr. Ramaiah, who had a poor track record, should think carefully before making allegations against others. Mr. Rajeswara Rao said Mr. Ramaiah should recall why he quit the Police Department, and the way he and a few others from the department secured government assigned land, on which he built a huge house though he was a government employee. The way Mr. Ramaiah’s family was keeping a grip on the revenues of the Saibaba temple was also known to all, Mr. Rajeswara Rao said.
