Statue of the former Prime Minister unveiled at Tekkali
Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Killi Kruparani on Monday recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to the nation.

On the occasion of Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary, they unveiled her statue at Tekkali and offered floral tributes. Ms. Killi Kruparani, who also born on November 19, said it was a great coincidence in her life to get a chance to work as Communication’s Minister since Indira Gandhi had also held the post of information and broadcasting.
“Indira Gandhi’s decisions such as nationalisation of banks, reforms in land distribution and role in formation of Bangladesh brought laurels to the Congress also,” said Ms. Kruparani. She said that Indira Gandhi sacrificed her life to protect the geographical integration of the country.
PCC doctors’ cell convenor Killi Rammamohana Rao, who donated the statue, said all the Congress leaders should emulate the ideals of Indira Gandhi and strive for the victory of the party in ensuing elections. DCC president Nartu Narendra Yadav and Congress spokesperson Pedada Parameswara Rao also spoke.
