HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress leaders have decided against heeding to the directive of the party leadership to withdraw from the Telangana Joint Action Committee .

Telangana Congress MPs, Ministers, MLAs and MLCs resolved to take a stand on continuing in the JAC after the Centre announces the objectives of the proposed committee to look into the statehood issue. AICC general secretary M. Veerappa Moily had asked Congress leaders to withdraw from the JAC with a warning that “any violation of party discipline will be seriously dealt with.”

At a meeting here on Monday, the leaders decided to “maintain status quo” on their resignations as well as continuation in the Telangana JAC.

They resolved not to make public statements on Telangana, pending an announcement from the Centre, while the MPs decided to rush to New Delhi ‘to be available to the leadership at the time of announcement of the committee.

While the Telangana leaders were maintaining restraint in their actions, the same would be expected from the leaders of other regions too.

Moreover, the Telangana leaders felt that the JAC was not being run by any party.
