The Congress party had continued its influence in the election of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the Primary agricultural cooperative societies (PACS) for the elections held in Karimnagar district on Friday.

Out of 72 PACS for which elections were held, the election of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons was held on Friday by the directors who were elected on Thursday. However, the elections to 14 PACSs were not conducted due to non-availability of quorum following the aspirants of chairperson posts organising camps with the directors.

For polls to 58 PACSs, the Congress had retained 27 PACS chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, the TRS had won 14, and the TDP, BJP and YSRCP four societies each.
