District Congress Committee (DCC) president D. Madhava Reddy said that decision had been made to constitute new bodies to the party from the village level to gear up for the general elections.

All sitting MLAs and those who had lost the elections were made in-charges of the respective Assembly Constituencies. Some senior workers in the constituency were also appointed to the new team to work towards the party’s victory. Soon, the DCC will constitute village-level and ward-level committees in the district. “The new committee members will tour in their respective areas and publicise the government welfare programmes and apprise them the need to vote for the Congress party in the next elections,” Madhava Reddy said.

Town Congress Committee president T. Vidyasagar, APCC member B. Prabhakar Reddy were present.

The DCC president criticised the ‘politicising’ of the power crisis in the State by the opposition parties. “The government is leaving no stone unturned to mitigate the crisis. There is a sudden demand for power with the State witnessing good rainfall. We admit that the power generation has not improved in proportion. However, efforts are being made to give adequate power and at a reasonable tariff,” he explained.

Opposition parties should play a constructive role in times of crisis like this rather than criticising government.
