Telugu Desam Party MLC M. Venkatasiva Reddy said that the Congress Governments at the Centre and in the State were in economical doldrums due to a paralysed administration.
The Congress failed to keep sits pre-poll promise to generate employment to 50,000 persons a year and in contrast, the number of government employees has come down to 10.76 lakh now as against 11.98 lakh in 2004, Mr. Venkatasiva Reddy told a news conference. There is severe shortage of government teachers now, whereas the Chandrababu Naidu government had conducted seven District Selection Committee tests in its nine-year rule and recruited 1.62 lakh teachers in the State, the MLC asserted. The Naidu government had set up industries, developed information technology and generated vast employment. It was the only party to have given the pre-poll promise to sanction unemployment allowance for the jobless and pension of Rs. 1,000 for physically challenged persons and the party would implement them if it was voted back to power, Mr. Venkatasiva Reddy said. He appealed to the people to elect the party's district vice-president M. Venkataswamy Reddy, who was being fielded as MLC candidate for Rayalaseema West Graduates Constituency. He accused the State Government of failing to maintain law and order.
