Ponnam Prabhakar flays KCR for not attending Parliament

Andhra and Rayalaseema JAC leaders accepting that injustice had been done to Telangana

Congress MPs raise ‘Jai Telangana' slogans in Parliament and demand for separate State

KARIMNAGAR: AP Congress MPs Forum convenor, Ponnam Prabhakar, has asked TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao whether he would get separate Telangana by the virtue of his party's victory from 10 assembly segments during the ensuing by-elections in the Telangana region.

“If we, the Congress party, win in the by-elections; we can convince the party high command and pressurise the party to announce separate Telangana at the earliest because of the prevalence of Telangana sentiment,” he pointed out.

Flaying KCR

Talking to newsmen here on Wednesday, Mr. Prabhakar said that Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao did not attend the Parliament sessions nor did he raise the separate Telangana issue when the Andhra and Rayalaseema region leaders raised slogans of united Andhra Pradesh. “It were the Congress MPs from Telangana who raised slogans of ‘Jai Telangana' in the Parliament and demanded the formation of separate Telangana for the self-respect and pride of the people,” he maintained.

Committed

Reiterating that the party high command was committed towards the formation of separate Telangana and abide by the statement made on December 9, 2009; he said the Andhra and Rayalaseema region leaders were opposing the formation of separate Telangana.

“But, we are firm on our commitment for the cause of Telangana.

We suggested Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao not to resign as we require his vote in the Parliament when the bill for the formation of Telangana state would be introduced,” he added.

Finding fault

Finding fault with Andhra and Rayalaseema JAC leaders who want to remain in united Andhra Pradesh, he said the JAC leaders were accepting that injustice had been done to the Telangana region. “How can they ask us to stay united in spite of being betrayed on all fronts for the last six decades? Our culture, traditions are different and we want to remain in a separate state,” he noted.

He also flayed TDP leader Yerran Naidu for talking against the formation of Telangana before Srikrishna Committee.

He reminded that Mr. Naidu had supported the formation of separate Telangana before Pranab Committee and also forged an alliance with TRS during 2009 elections.

Flaying the TRS and other pro-Telangana activists for obstructing Praja Patham programme, he said that they were passing resolutions demanding the formation of separate Telangana at all Praja patham programmes.

DCC leaders Y Sunil Rao and others were also present.
