Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Panabaka Lakshmi on Saturday asserted that the ruling Congress was fully committed to carry on welfare and development initiatives with more vigour.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for a Rs. 1 crore TTD Kalyana Mandapams, one each at J.Pangalur and Ravinuthala, she said the ruling Congress both at the Centre and in the State was keen on ensuring the benefits of its initiatives reached weaker sections of people including SCs and STs at the the grassroots level.

Only to prevent misuse of the huge subsidy on cooking gas cylinder, the Centre had made it compulsory to link it with Aadhaar cards, she explained. The subsidy amount of Rs. 501 would be directly credited to the bank accounts of consumers, she added.
