Andhra leaders misleading high command: Yaskhi
‘Telangana people want to elect those who had quit'
HYDERABAD: Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud has said that the ruling party cannot win the byelections to 12 Assembly seats vacated by the TRS and other parties.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Yaskhi said the aspiration of Telangana people was to get elected with a thumping majority all the 12 legislators (10 of TRS and one each of TDP and PR), who quit their seats in support of the statehood.
The Nizamabad MP accused the leaders from Andhra region of misleading the high command and telling them about the bright prospects of the Congress in the byelections.
Meanwhile, Telangana Congress leaders are holding a meeting at a resort in Himayatsagar on May 11 to discuss the modalities of their presentation before the Justice Srikrishna Committee.
Senior Congress leaders Palvai Goverdhan Reddy and K.R. Amos at another press conference demanded Chief Minister K. Rosaiah to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the faulty design of Polavaram project.
Mr. Goverdhan Reddy alleged that the Irrigation Department engineers had prepared the design with an ulterior motive to benefit contractors and some influential politicians.
Stating that the estimations of the project were enhanced by Rs. 3,000 crore with the intention of making huge money for the contractors, he urged the government to reconsider the design and go in for the one prepared by irrigation expert Hanumantha Rao as it would not create any inter-State river water dispute with Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
