A day after Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy launched vitriolic attack on Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress leadership appears to have decided to continue the tempo in the days to come.
The Finance Minister also found support from his cabinet colleagues. None other than the PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana said whatever the Finance Minister spoke was correct. “Taking advantage of the power held by his father, Jagan indulged in corrupt activities,” he told reporters in Anantapur and justified the remark that corrupt persons should be hanged.
Another Minister K. Parthasarathy went a step further stating that the hidden hand of Jagan was visible in the decisions taken by the Rajasekhara Reddy Government. Former Minister J. C. Diwakar Reddy said Mr. Ramanarayan’s outburst was the result of the anguish that innocent Ministers were being framed for the corruption indulged by somebody else.
Citing the support Mr. Ramanarayan Reddy received from cabinet colleagues, a section of the party leaders said it was time, the Congress leadership exposed Jagan and his alleged misdeeds.
They opined that seniors have to shed their lenient view towards YSR Congress. They point out that with the Finance Minister taking the lead in targeting YSR Congress, the Ministers sympathetic towards former Chief Minister would be forced to raise their voice against corruption.
However, some leaders pointed out that the Finance Minister was showing his frustration by making such remarks as he was feeling the heat of growing support base for YSR Congress in his native district of Nellore.
His own brother was planning to join the YSRCP.
A senior Congress leader said YSRCP has garnered good support in Nellore district, which was proved by latter’s easy win the by-elections held some time back for the parliamentary as well as the Assembly seats.
