Dalits demand apology for TDP chief’s remarks against Deputy Speaker
KADAPA: Congress activists burnt an effigy of Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu at Seven Roads Junction here on Friday deploring his remarks against Deputy Speaker G. Kuthuhalamma.
“Mr. Naidu should tender an unconditional apology to Ms. Kuthuhalamma, a Dalit who was chairing the Assembly proceedings, for making ‘derogatory’ remarks against her,” city Congress president T. Sivasankar demanded. Mr. Naidu’s remarks revealed his scant regard for the Dalits and downtrodden sections, he alleged. All democrats should unequivocally condemn the anti-Dalit attitude of a leader who ruled the State for nine years, he said.
District Congress SC Cell chairman P. Vijaya Kumar, coordinator B. Ayyanna, city Congress SC Cell chairman Jojappa, DCC publicity secretary M.P. Suresh, organising secretary Lakshminarayana, Mahila Congress leaders M. Saraswathi, C. Janaki, T.P. Venkatasubbamma, M.K. Ratna Kumari and others participated.
Congress functionaries also burnt Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s effigy in various parts of Kadapa district. Dalits staged dharna and burnt an effigy of Mr. Naidu at Jammalamadugu. Mala Mahanadu regional convenor Babu , Jammalamadugu ZPTC member Vijaya Kumari and others led the protest. Railway Kodur ZPTC member B. Nagaraju and mandal president Easwaraiah and Congress leaders burnt the TDP president’s effigy at Railway Kodur.
