The World Allergy Day was observed at Kesava ENT Hospital in collaboration with Cipla pharmaceutical company in Karimnagar on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, ENT surgeon and Satavahana Lions Club leader Ch. Ramana Chary said there was high incidence of allergy cases in the industrial coal belt region of Godavarikhani in the district.
He said people living in the industrial belt were suffering from various allergies due to the exposure to pollution in the region.
He said they were also seeing farmers suffering from allergies due to exposure to pesticides.
Expressing concern over the growing allergies in the district, he said pollution and degradation for forests, use of plastics, destruction of natural flora and fauna on the hillocks due to stone quarrying were causing allergies. He called upon people to play a responsible role in the prevention of allergies by taking up massive tree plantation and avoiding use of plastics.
Dr. Ramana Chary promised to conduct free health camps at his hospital to create awareness among people.
