The Rotary Club of Vijayawada donated equipment for a Computer Learning Centre at the Andhra Loyola College Alumni Association (ALCAA) School on the Andhra Loyola College premises on Thursday.
The Rotary Club provided five computers, a printer and a scanner in the first phase of the project.
This will help about 190 students to learn the Computer skills, said alumni association president G.V. Mohan Prasad.
The Rotary District Governor Ch. Surya Rao formally opened the facility on Thursday. The ALC Rector D. Ravi Sekhar, ALCAA Director A. Theckemury were also present on the occasion. The Commissioner of Income Tax K. Ajay Kumar was the special guest.
Addressing the children, the staff, the Rotary members and the Alumni after the inauguration the ALCAA Director requested the Rotary members to provide a safe drinking water plant for the school children.
The Rotary members immediately agreed to install an R.O. plant within 45 days.
The Commissioner of Income, who is also an old student of Andhra Loyola College, requested Rotary Club of Vijayawada to provide the internet facility with sufficient bandwidth for the school so that the children could have access to unlimited knowledge in various fields.
He also said that further facilities like an LCD projector will enable the teachers to use modern teaching methods to make learning easy and interesting for the children.
