The CPI(M) district committee has demanded that compensation should be paid to farmers in Nagarjuna Sagar ayacut for the loss incurred by them due to non-release of water for the Kharif crops.  Party State executive committee member J.V. Raghavulu and district secretary D. Rama Devi said in statement that sowing was not done in many areas due to deficit rainfall and crops in a vast area withered due to drought conditions.

Unless the government releases water immediately, standing crops in Krishna Western Delta and Nagarajuna Sagar ayacut would be lost.

The party leaders also criticised the government for neglecting public health.  A proper action plan is required to bring the situation under control, the CPM leaders said.
