YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday demanded that the State Government immediately pay a compensation of Rs.10,000 per acre to farmers whose crops were affected by the recent cyclonic storm.

Talking to reporters at Cheyyuru village during his visit to cyclone-hit areas in East Godavari District, Mr. Reddy urged the government to waive crop loans and sanction fresh ones. Pointing out that farmers had to bear the brunt of two cyclones in quick succession, he wanted payment of an input subsidy of 75 per cent. He charged the government with remaining indifferent to the plight of farmers.
