Commotion prevailed at the Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Secunderabad for sometime on Tuesday after people who lined up to submit the applications forms jostled with each other and fell down. In the melee that ensued the glass panes of a counter were broken.

However, none was injured in the near stampede situation. The RPO had done away with the token system a few days ago and had started allowing applicants into the premises directly to submit the applications from 9.15 a.m. to 12 noon.

Following sudden rush at the counter, a commotion broke out and some applicants fell on the iron grills.

Police personnel brought the situation under control.
