HYDERABAD: The A.P. Aided Degree College Lecturers’ Association has threatened to boycott the ongoing annual degree exam if the government fails to immediately announce 30 per cent HRA to its members.
The boycott decision will be taken in two or three days after meeting the Higher Education Secretary, said V. K.Varkhardkar, president, and M. Yadagiri, general secretary, in a statement here on Monday. They regretted that the government had been keeping in abeyance issuance of order on HRA for more than six months despite a direction by the Human Resources Development Ministry to give 30 per cent HRA to all teachers drawing UGC scales and staff working in colleges in the limits of Greater Hyderabad.
The leaders described the delay as ‘step-motherly treatment’ since the State government staff had already been given 30 per cent HRA. They recalled that Chief Mnister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Finance Minister K. Rosaiah had already given an assurance on the payment of HRA.
