District Collector D. Varaprasad on Thursday launched the voter facilitation centres (VFCs) here. The centres would enable voters to know whether their names were in the voter lists and polling station where they should exercise their franchise in the byelection to the Nizamabad (Urban) Assembly constituency.

Inaugurating the VFCs at Pochammagalli, Vinayaknagar, Chandrasekhar Nagar Colony, Kanteswar and Zilla Parishad, he said these centres would enlighten voters on various things relating to their votes and the use of EVMs and so on.

This novel system was brought to operation in view of the lowest poll percentage recorded in the constituency in the entire State in the last elections and about 60,000 voters out of the total of 2.67 lakh were yet to have photo identity cards, he said.
