District Collector V Seshadri visited the office of the District Information and Public Relations – Samachar Bhavan – and planted a sapling on its premises here on Saturday.

The Collector who has been selected to the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi is set to leave the district next week for taking up his new posting.

A number of senior journalists from the city lavished praise on Collector V Seshadri for his efforts in protecting the Government lands in the district.

They said that the officials in the field were happy to work under an upright officer like him as he gave them confidence that they would be protected while performing their duty as per the rule book.

Though a short stint, it was a fulfilling one to work in a district that has extreme contrasts in socio-economic and geographic terms. It was a mix of plains and hilly areas, the population density was also very different in different areas in the district, Mr Seshadri pointed out. Further, there was affluence in one part of the district while there was abject poverty in another.

The Collector was felicitated by the journalists fraternity on the occasion. District Public Relations Officer Babji, District Revenue Officer M Venkateswara Rao, GVMC Additional Commissioner Ramesh and a number of senior journalists, including president of Vizag Journalists Forum Gantla Srinu Babu, were present on the occasion.
