Collector Budhaprakash Jyothi visited the organic manure manufacturing units in Sunkollu village in the district and interacted with the women entrepreneurs on Saturday.
Mr. Budhaprakash visited a manure unit being run by Nageswaramma in the village, and enquired her about the production and quality of organic manure. He walked into the house of B. Chandrakantamma, who is running a sewing machine centre by taking loan through ‘Gramasamaikya Sangam’ and asked her about the functioning of the centre. The Collector enquired Indira Kranti Padam (IKP) member Nirmala Kumari on preparation of organic manure, varieties being produced and sales in the area. He observed a paddy crop being raised by farmer, Ramachander Rao, by using organic manure, and asked him about the yield.
Later, the Collector said that government has introduced several welfare schemes for women and was providing loans for them through District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) SC Corporation and Banks. Women can set up self employment units like pickle manufacturing, poultry and honey collection units and by rearing hybrid variety cattle, he said. DRDA Project Director Janaki, SC Corporation Executive Director Raju, Animal Husbandry Joint Director Damodar Naidu, and other officers accompanied the Collector.
