Official Language panel member examines files pertaining to 40 depts

Official Language Commission member Gowrishankar on Wednesday visited the Collectorate and reviewed the implementation of Telugu as Official Language, by examining files pertaining to 40 departments. In this regard, he appreciated the efforts of Collector N. Mukteswara Rao.

This is the first visit by a panel member to a district in the State. He went round the offices of the District Supply Officer, Public Relations Department, CPO, DWMA, DRDA and expressed satisfaction over the increasing use of Telugu.

He praised the district for standing first in the State in conducting the World Telugu Conference ‘sadassus’ and awareness programmes. Only two other districts had done this, Prof. Gowrishankar said, adding that the district WTC documentary was laudable.

Effective communication

He said the use of Telugu in offices was enabling the people to effectively convey their problems to officials.

He noted that government officers from rural areas, who had studied in Telugu medium, were occupying important positions in the administration. T

he Collector said anyone could visit government offices to verify the implementation of Telugu.
