Silver Jubilee celebrations matter of pride, he says
Road accident rate dipped with harmony of transportation sector City has to enter fast-track mode of development
VIJAYAWADA: District Collector Navin Mittal has called for putting in place a mechanism through which better coordination can be achieved among all Government departments and agencies involved in city development.
Addressing a meeting to review the preparations for the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) with officials of various departments in the Council hall on Saturday, Mr. Mittal cited the example of district road safety mission that had been activated recently.
Accident rate down
With better coordination among transport officials, police, National Highways Authority of India and other agencies through road safety mission, the accident rate in the district had been brought down significantly, he said.
In the case of Vijayawada, coordination was very much needed in areas such as education, health, roads, traffic and transportation. Mr. Mittal agreed with VMC Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar's point of view that Silver Jubilee celebrations were not a matter pertaining to VMC alone. Vijayawada's gradual growth and development over 25 years from a mere town into a city in 1981 when it was declared as a corporation, called for celebration among one and all.
The Collector assured Mayor Tadi Sakuntala, Commissioner and corporators of cooperation from all departments for the successful conduct of the celebrations.
