South Central Railway General Manager G.N. Asthana has said work on railway coach factory at Kazipet will begin as soon as the State government gives possession of endowments land.

Speaking to mediapersons after inspecting the flood-affected railway track between Vijayawada and Tuni on Thursday, Mr. Asthana maintained that the land was in dispute and the State had approached the High Court.

On the Kakinada-Secunderabad superfast triweekly express, he said, from next month it would run daily and permission from the Railway Board had been sought.

In reply to a question, he said construction of a new bridge across the Tandava would be considered if the local body came forward to bear 50 per cent of the cost.

BJP leaders, Chamber of Commerce representatives, and Lions Club members gave representations to the General Manager.
