Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy Indiramma Baata in Prakasam district had not benefited the people at the grassroots level, opined the CPI City Committee on Saturday.

CPI city secretary U. Prakasa Rao told reporters here that no effort had been made to look into basic problems relating to civic infrastructure. Had the Chief Minister walked through the streets of Ongole he could have known the ground realities. “Ongole has been rendered stinking city with solution to locate a site for dumping yard remaining elusive for years together”, he said.

The basic civic infrastructure had been lacking in the city, particularly in the newly-merged areas in the city recently upgraded into Municipal Corporation, he added. Meanwhile, Dalit Hakkula Parirakshana Samiti district president Neelam Nagendra Rao said the Chief Minister had not paid attention to the various problems faced by dalits in the district, including housing and burial grounds. Issuance of possession certificate for housing beneficiaries had been put on hold in the district, he alleged while talking to reporters.
