Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to come to the rescue of the State, which is facing an acute gas shortage to the gas-based power generation plants in the State.
Mr. Reddy called on Dr. Singh, urging him to direct the Oil and Power ministries to help address the situation.
The CM sought diversion of 3 MMSCMD gas from KG-D6 being supplied to fertiliser units in Gujarat and Maharashtra now. The total supply to fertiliser plants outside AP was 15.45 MMSCMD.
Further, Mr. Reddy impressed upon the PM to direct steps to divert 2 MMSCMD of KG basin gas being supplied to power plants on the western coast on a top-up basis. The total supply to power plants out side AP was 2.68 MMSCMD.
He also asked for allocation of 500MW of unallocated power from the Central Generating Stations, Southern Region, 300MW of unallocated power from Kundankulam and 75MW from Neyveli-2 expansion, to the State.
